Hey Everyone,
You may have noticed it’s been a while since our last product update. We owe you an update and a brief explanation.
Instead of continuing with small incremental releases after
brandOS 2.7
, our team decided to step back and focus on something much bigger behind the scenes.
Today, we are excited to officially introduce
brandOS Vignelli (Version 3.0)
: the biggest evolution of Brandy so far.
With AI-powered brand tools, customizable brand page layouts, deeper integrations, and a powerful extensibility platform, brandOS 3.0 transforms Brandy into a complete operating system for managing modern brands.
We named brandOS 3.0 after
Massimo Vignelli
, the legendary designer behind some of the most influential design systems ever created, including the iconic New York City Subway map.
Vignelli believed that design should be clear, structured, and scalable across every medium. His philosophy, “If you can design one thing, you can design everything,” perfectly reflects the direction we are taking with Brandy.
Just as Vignelli brought order to complex visual systems, brandOS 3.0 brings clarity and intelligence to the way modern teams manage their brands.
New:
  • Custom Brand Page Layouts
: brandOS 3.0 introduces a completely redesigned workspace with a modern navigation rail sidebar that replaces the old top bar layout. This gives your brand space more room and better navigation. You can choose between Header, Sidebar, and Floating Header themes, each customizable per brand. The release also introduces 13 professionally designed page templates, including Visual Story, Quick Pitch, Product Feature, Brand Guide, Event Page, and Gallery Showcase.
  • AI Assistant
: The new AI Assistant helps generate and refine brand content directly inside Brandy. Users can revise text, expand descriptions, shorten content, or adjust tone using simple slash commands. AI can also generate color palettes, suggest font pairings from your uploaded fonts, create logo variants in SVG format, and even generate full cover pages from a single prompt.
  • Advanced Cover Pages
: Cover pages now support richer layouts, including asset cards, sliders, headers, parallax animations, and AI-generated content sections such as FAQs, CTAs, and text blocks. Teams can start from presets such as SaaS Product or Design Agency, or describe their own layout for AI to generate.
  • Brandy SDK (Beta):
brandOS 3.0 introduces an extensibility platform allowing third-party apps to integrate with Brandy. The SDK includes OAuth login with Brandy, REST APIs for brand and asset management, magic-link authentication for integrations, and secure connection flows for desktop and mobile applications.
  • Lightbox Preview:
Assets can now be previewed in a full-screen lightbox. This includes images, videos, PDFs, SVG files, fonts, and color palettes. The preview includes transparency backgrounds for SVGs, click-to-copy color swatches for palettes, and download options such as Download Original or Download As.
  • Asset Status and Task Management:
Assets can now be assigned statuses such as In Progress or Approved. A Kanban board view makes it easier to track asset progress and manage workflows within the brand team.
  • Brand-Level Tag Management:
Tags are now managed centrally at the brand-level. Tags have automatically generated colors and can be created, renamed, recolored, or deleted from a dedicated tag manager. Bulk tagging multiple assets is also supported.
  • Native Figma Embed:
Figma assets can now be embedded directly inside brand pages with custom preview images, crop settings, and lightbox previews. This allows design files to live alongside other brand assets within the same workspace.
  • Cover Page File Downloads:
Files can now be attached to cover page cards, columns, and media sections. Video files open in a lightbox preview while other file types trigger direct downloads.
  • Expanded Card Asset:
Cards now support file attachments, automatic video detection, and YouTube embeds that open in a lightbox instead of navigating away.
  • Card Style Layouts:
Collections now support three card display styles: Default, Flat, and Classic. These layouts include styled overlays, action buttons, and metadata bars.
  • Print Color Workflow:
Brand colors now support official Pantone references alongside HEX, RGB, HSL, and CMYK values. CMYK values can be locked to ensure consistency even when other color formats are edited.
  • Custom Accent Colors:
Each brand space can now define a custom accent color for the Brandy interface, helping the workspace visually match the brand identity.
  • User Profile Pictures:
Users can now upload profile pictures that appear in the navigation rail, user menu, and throughout the application interface.
  • PowerPoint Template Support (.potx):
PowerPoint template files can now be uploaded and managed as brand assets with correct file format badges.
Improved:
  • Cover Page Overhaul:
The cover page editor has been completely redesigned with better layout controls, improved Bento customization, new templates, and a redesigned card editor with separate media, background, text color, and action sections.
  • Brand Consciousness AI:
The AI assistant now understands your brand’s collections, assets, colors, fonts, logos, and usage statistics. This allows it to give more contextual answers and insights based on real brand data.
  • Keyboard Shortcuts:
Command bar shortcuts (CMD + K) allow for faster navigation across brand settings, cover pages, and workspace controls.
  • Tag Input and Filtering:
Tag input now supports auto-generated colors, editable mode, and quick access to the tag manager. Assets can also be filtered by tags during browsing.
  • Search Experience:
A new dedicated search page allows users to filter assets by type, sort results, toggle between list and grid view, and browse results with pagination.
  • Upload Experience:
Uploads now use direct S3 transfers for better reliability. Upload progress shows percentage indicators, and failed uploads can be retried with a single click. Files can also be dragged anywhere onto the page to upload.
  • API Token System:
User-level tokens replace brand-specific tokens, automatically granting access to all brands where the user has editor or admin permissions.
  • Brand Insights Page:
The analytics page has been redesigned with metric cards for assets, collections, storage usage, downloads, views, and team members, along with a popular assets section.
  • Gradient Editor:
Palette gradients now support multiple color stops and radial gradients through a richer gradient picker.
  • Trash Bin:
The trash bin now includes asset thumbnails, format badges, file sizes, multi-selection, and a days-in-trash indicator.
  • Video and Image Previews:
Video and image previews now support custom backgrounds and YouTube embeds that respect timestamp URLs.
  • Media Only Card Mode:
Cards can now display media-only layouts, which are ideal for visual galleries and video showcases without text overlays.
Fixed:
  • CMYK Color Handling:
Resolved multiple issues with CMYK values not persisting correctly or losing locked values during color changes.
  • Asset Cleanup on Deletion:
Deleting assets or collections now properly removes associated data and prevents orphaned assets from counting toward storage usage.
  • OAuth2 Authorization:
OAuth authorization endpoints now fully follow the OAuth 2.0 specifications and include the missing redirect URIs required for integrations.
  • Video Preview Rendering:
Fixed issues where custom preview backgrounds did not render correctly for video assets.
  • Asset Format Badges:
File format detection now works correctly regardless of capitalization or file naming variations.
  • Brand Switching:
Switching between brands no longer unexpectedly resets the workspace mode.
  • Asset Notes & Tags:
Notes and tags attached to assets now save reliably.
  • Bento Layout Switching:
Resolved issues where switching layout styles did not apply correctly.
  • Download Toggle:
Disabling downloads now correctly applies to all layouts, including Bento mode.
  • Text Editor Initialization:
Fixed cases where the text editor failed to load in certain scenarios.
  • Import from URL:
Resolved media import failures that occurred under certain conditions.
  • Forgot Password Email Matching:
The forgot password flow now correctly identifies users regardless of email capitalization.
  • Font Upload:
Fixed font upload failures affecting certain file types.
  • Mobile Image Orientation:
Uploaded mobile images now respect EXIF orientation and display correctly.
